4200 Coupe GT & Cambiocorsa

Released to the market in January 2002, the Coupé, like the Spyder, is built around a chassis and an engine designed, conceived and created at the historic Modena factory in Viale Ciro Menotti. It is in nearly all respects identical in specification to the Spyder which it follows in release date.  With a shorter wheelbase and more compact tail, the car sits on 18 inch wheels with a 15 spoke pattern.  The all new 4.2 naturally aspirated V8 weighs in 44.09 lb lighter than the 3200 engine, is dry sumped and has chain driven OH camshafts with 4 valves per cylinder using hydraulic valve adjusters.  The inlet camshafts are equipped with a continuous valve timing control system. As an alternative to the 6-speed manual gear box, the option of a F1-styled gearbox with computer controlled gear change known as 'Cambiocorsa' is available.  Suspension is by double wishbone enhanced by a state of the art automatic suspension control system ('Skyhook') which, utilising sensors monitoring wheel movement, uses the control system to adjust spring dampeners to road conditions. In terms of kerb weight, the Coupé at 1670 kg comes in at 50 kg lighter in GT form than the Spyder.  The Cambiocorsa adds 10 kg to the weight of the car.
