Biturbo 422 / 4.18V

The 422 was the four door equivalent of the 222 and brought with it all the refinements and additions made to that vehicle. The mechanicals included the new generation V6 with two turbochargers and two air/air intercoolers, active mechanical suspension and the Ranger differential.  By transplanting the mechanicals of the 2.24v into the 422 shell, it would later become the 4.24v (4OHV) which was released in 1990.  The 422, which was 3OHV, however continued in production.  A special version of the 422 still with 3OHV but with ABS brakes was released in 1990 and designated the 4.18V.
